Many people tried to take Swami to their home, but only those became successful who worshiped him truly from the core of their heart. Swami oftenly muttered some phrases which only some were able to understand. Swami would always be accompanied by his disciples namely Cholappa and Balappa, wherever he would go. Due to this various dignitaries and famous personalities visited Akkalkot. The news of his arrival to Akkalkot spread like a wildfire. He usually sat under a huge Banyan tree on the outskirts of Akkalkot. He used to visit Mosques, Dargahs along with Temples. People of all religions came to take his blessings. His devotees and disciples used to chant the mantra - "Shri swami samarth" so as to worship him. He was a MahaYogi - A MahaPurush possessing great spiritual powers. He performed various miracles to save his devotees from evil powers. Swami was well-versed and knew many Vedic Literatures such as the holy Vedas. He is the third avatar (incarnation) of 'Datta Guru'. During his stay in Akkalkot, Swami enlightened many lives and showed a ray of hope to innumerable devotees. Some of them are Shri Cholappa, Shri Balappa, Shri Ramanand Beedkar Maharaj, Shri Dev Mamledar, etc. He came to Akkalkot (Solapur, Maharashtra) in 1856 and stayed there for the rest of his life i.e. Afterwards he visited Mangalvedha (Solapur, Maharashtra), and stayed there for some time. Swami had visted many pilgrimage places like Haridwar, Benaras, Rameshwaram, Puri, etc. He consoled the shocked woodcutter and told him that it was his divine will to re-appear in this world, to complete his mission of eradicating the evil powers from this universe. After completion of his meditation, the Holy Sage opened his eyes. He tried and cleared the anthill and lo! he saw a Yogi Purush (Holy Sage) engrossed in deep meditation. He was taken aback by the view of blood stains on his axe. While cutting trees, his axe hit the anthill. One day, accidentally, a wood cutter came there. Nearly after about 300 years, a large anthill grew on and around his body. However, it is our great fortune that Swami Maharaj is continuing His mission with divine willpower and determinat ion through thousands of Shree Swami Samarth Sea Centres in Maharashtra, rest of India and now across the world through Dindori Pranit Sevamarg.As per stated in 'Guru Charitra', Shri Nrusimha Saraswati went away to the Himalayas for doing his Tapascharya (Penance). In AD 1878, Swami Maharaj appeared to take Samadhi (Yogic way of leaving the body). Devotees still experience his divine presence and feel reassured because of his quote – ‘Never be afraid and I am always with you’. Shree Swami Samarth can instantly grant incessant supreme divine joy on whomever he chooses. He is measurel ess compassion and limitless ananda (bliss).

He is a direct incarnation of Supreme Consciousness or Para-brahma. He is revered as the teacher of all spiritual teachers i.e. He became the Guru (preceptor) of many great souls like Shree Ramakrishna Paramahansa, Shree Sai Baba of Shirdi, Shree Shankar Maharaj, and Shree Gajajan Maharaj of Shegaon etc.

He came to Akkalkot in 1856 where he continued his physical existence for 22 years. He also stayed at Mangalvedha, a town near Pandharpur in Solapur district Maharashtra, which had been inhabited earlier by famous saints like Domojipant and Chokhamela. While moving in the Himalayan region he visited places like Puri, Benaras, Hardwar, Girnar, Kathiawad and Rameswaram in the South. In 1856, Akkalkot – Prior to his settlement at Akkalkot, Swami Samarth seems to have visited far and wide. He left his ‘Nirgun Padukas’ to his disciples before leaving for the Kardali forests to perform Tapas. Later in 1678, he ended this incarnation and re-incarnated as Shree Swami Samarth. During this time, he consecrated and established holy places like Audumbar, Nrusihwadi and Gangapur. In 1528, Karanja, Vidarbh-Maharashtra– Incarnated as Shree Narasimha Saraswati and worked for around 100 years.

In 1378, Pithapurm, Andra Pradesh – Incarnated in new form as Shree Shripad Shrivallabha and worked for around 150 years to destroy blind beliefs, superstitions, difficulties, losses, miseries and obstacles of mankind. He took an extensive pilgrimage, covering even places, now known as Jawa, Sumatra, Indonesia, China, Japan,Australia etc., relieved many people from their miseries, and guided them on the spiritual path. In 1149, Chhele Village, Punjab – Lord Dattatreya took avatar as Shree Swami Samarth. He is also called Sri Akkalkot Swami Samarth or great sage of Akkalkot. Shree Swami Samartha comes from the age-old guru tradition of the Dattatreya sampradaya.
